Sunday Secrets: Grooming Tips

An ongoing collection of breeder tips provided by our own RFW breeders. Please feel free to share anything you have found to be a good product. Different cats have different coats. You may need to try several products before you find the one that works best for each cat. The better our Ragdolls look in the show hall, the better we represent our breed to the associations and to the public!!

Orvus WA Paste, Neutrogena for normal hair use Orvus in dry hair, rub gently with fingers, brush and rinse WELL........follows by applying Neutrogena as second degreasing step when the coat is laready wet.......these two steps should be able to degrease the most oily coat of any animals  Russell Law
Go-Joe Use Rinse very well until the water is running Clear off of Cat Bonnie Wright
Goop Hand Cleaner use for first shampoo Rosemary Howarth
Dawn Dish Liquid base clean middle step Mindy Ferriera
Goop Hand Cleaner Rub in well for stud tail and rub lightly thru body Francesca C. Metz
Woolite For use on kittens to not dry out fur. Place in bath water before shampooing. About one tablespoon Francesca C. Metz
White vinegar Use after Goop, Dawn and F1R2 use, Rinse in !/2 cup vinegar and sink of water. Rinse again in clear water. Marilyn McCorkindale
DeSolv-It Orange Citrus Degreaser (spray bottle) Bio-degradable, non-toxic degreaser for stud tail and other greasy areas Cindy DeWolfe and Janie Thompson
Goop Use use with soft toothbrush in stud tail after every rinse Mary Riddell
Distilled White Vinegar Use measure 1/2 cup to 1 gallon warm water pour over coat and then rinse, rinse, rinse. This is the final step before towel dry. Mary Riddell

No Dryer drying Warm towels in dryer. Wrap cat in towels for 5 mins. Repeat. Let air dry naturally. Combing every 1/2 hour till dry. Francesca C. Metz
Metro, Air Force Cagemaster Plus Towel dry cat(s), let rest awhile, then put cat(s) in a wire cage and blow backwards with forced air until dry. Have a wire bottom so you can direct air from underneath as well. Marilyn McCorkindale
